You can reserve a car upon arrival, but in high season you may find that most vehicles are taken that the vehicle of your choice is not available. Consider making your reservation in advance. It's wise to reconfirm before your arrival to the airport( or your hotel).

Your options are standard (stick) or automatic transmission, and with or without air conditioning. Stick shift is preferable because frequent and sudden gear changes are required when potholes and kamikaze chickens appear out of nowhere; automatic transmissions do not give you the control you'll need. Remember, though that you'll be changing gears with your left hand. If this is new to you don't worry; you'll soon get the hang of it.
